Seating Manager – Product Engineering

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Seating Manager – Product Engineering (Complete Seats) to join our Client’s team. The successful candidate will act as the key interface between customers and the company in China. Maintaining and fostering strong relationships with customers, ensuring trust and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Lead the product development for the company’s complete seat and sub-components.
Direct Lead Engineer and Product Engineers in daily development activities.
Ensure designs meet all functional customer specifications, Statement of Requirements (SOR), design guidelines, and best practices.
Identify risks associated with designed products and establish effective mitigation plans.
Lead and manage a functional, program-specific development team of Product Design Engineers and CAD Designers.
Ensure program design status adherence to timelines and drawing schedules.
Oversee the creation of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
Conduct and lead Design Reviews.
Develop DVP & PV test plans based on customer specifications.
Lead the root cause analysis of critical issues and track identified problems through to resolution.
Approve engineering changes to address identified issues.
Support and represent the business unit at customer management meetings.
Serve as a liaison between the Customer and the engineering department.

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

More than 10 years of experience in completed seat design and development with European customers.
Over 5 years of team lead experience.

Necessary Skills and Competencies:

Knowledge of IATF16949 system requirements and VDA6.3 audit requirements.
Expertise in engineering mechanics and FEA analysis.
Familiarity with complete seat and frame, special characteristics, and seat product function, performance, and regulation testing requirements.
Strong problem investigation, analysis, and solution capabilities.
Proficient in using 8D tools for issue analysis and improvement.
In-depth understanding of BMW seat product development process, products, and quality requirements.
Familiarity with BMW GS standards, LH, test requirements, and other product engineering standards and processes.
Proficient in Catia software.
Excellent English and German language skills.
Strong communication skills with customers and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
